Alfred Bertie Brown was born in 1880 at North Weston near Thame in Oxfordshire, the son of David Brown and his second wife nee Susan Pullen. He was also known as Alfred Bertram Brown. The family later moved to Long Crendon in Buckinghamshire.
Alfred Bertie Brown was then a milkman.
On 27 July 1903 he married Rose Smith at St John's church in Ealing in London. She was the daughter of George Smith of Reading.
When the 1911 Census was taken he and his family were living at 112 St George's Road in Reading.
They had the following children:
Alfred Eric George Brown. He was born on 1 November 1904, and was baptised at Ealing parish church on 5 March 1905.
He married Ivy Collins in 1931, and died at Reading in 1993 aged 88 years.
Stanley William John Brown. He was born on 13 December 1907, and died in 1982.
Kenneth Albert Leslie Brown. He was born in 1919. He married Marjorie Joyce Fotheringham in 1942, and was killed in action in 1943 at Monte Cassino during the Second World War.
Raymond Reginald H Brown 1923-1996. He was born in 1923. He married Gladys M. Brokenshire at Reading, and served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. He died in 1996 at Bracknell in Berkshire.
Their father Alfred Bertie Brown died in 1957 at Reading.
