Samuel Worley was born in 1854 at Iver in Buckinghamshire, the son of William Worley and his wife nee Mary Elizabeth Gurney 1815-1879.
In 1872 he married Mary Ann Stapps (1). When the 1881 Census was taken they were living in Swallow Street, Iver. Samuel Worley was then a farm labourer, presumably working with his father. By 1891 they had moved to High Street, Colnbrook in Buckinghamshire (2). Samuel Worley was then recorded as being a labourer and his wife as a school caretaker. In 1901 they were living at High Street, Langley in Buckinghamshire, by which date Samuel Worley had become a bricklayer. In 1907 he was a gardener, when his daughter Phoebe Jane Worley was married. In 1911 Samuel and Mary Ann Worley were with their widowed son-in-law at 11 Edzell Road, Staines in Middlesex.
They had the following children:
Ethel Louisa Worley. She was born in 1873 at Iver. She was married to David Rowe at Staines in 1902, and they had three daughters: Gertrude Alice Rowe 1902-1902, Kitty Dorothy Rowe (born in 1903 she became a typist and emigrated to Canada in 1923. She married Daniel Bushell in Ontario), and Phoebe Louise Rowe (born in Staines in 1904, she was married in 1934 to Robert Joseph Hebenton 1894-1981, and died in 1968). Their mother Ethel Louisa Rowe died in 1905. David Rowe married Louisa Ethel Lewis 1873-1905 at Staines in 1918.
Sylvia Elizabeth Worley. She was born in 1874 at Iver, and was also known as Elizabeth Sylvia Morley (3). On 12 April 1898 she was married to Francis William Carter, a tailor, at St George's church, Hanover Square in London. They had two sons, Frank Carter (born in 1902 in Westminster in London) and Charles Carter (born in 1905 in Tooting, London). When the Censuses were taken in 1891 and 1901 they were living at 5 Cambridge Buildings, Westminster. In 1911 they were living at 8A Winstead Street, Battersea in London. He died in 1938 aged 63 years, having fallen down the cliff at Beachy Head near Eastbourne (4). She died in 1941 at Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire aged 66 years.
Maud Worley. She was born in 1876 at Iver. She died in 1935 at Eastbourne, Sussex.
Phoebe Jane Worley. She was born in 1878 at Iver. She was married on 26 December 1907 to George James Fuller at St Peter's church, Cranley Gardens, Kensington in London. She died in 1934 in Battersea, London.
Kate Worley. She was born in 1879 at Iver. She died in 1961.
Samuel William Worley. He was born in 1881 at Iver. In 1914 he married Harriet Rebecca Brient 1883-1962 at Kingston-on-Thames in Surrey. They lived at Worcester Park, Surrey. He served as a private soldier No. 53436 in the Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment). As No. 82633 he was transferred to the 35th Company Labour Corp, and died on 9 July 1918 in France. He was buried in the Longuenesse (St. Omer) Souvenir Cemetery in the Pas-de-Calais, France.
James Worley. He was born in 1883 at Iver. In 1901 he was a market gardener living with his parents. When the Census was taken on 2 April 1911 he was a police constable, lodging unmarried at Acton in London. Later in the same year he married Hilda Annie Butt 1888-1953. He died in 1957 at Ealing in Middlesex aged 74 years.
Clifford Worley. He was born in 1890 at Colnbrook. In 1911 he was unmarried and lodging with his brother-in-law David Rowe (widower of his sister Ethel Louisa Rowe nee Worley) at Staines, employed as a factory hand in a linoleum works. He died on 13 November 1964 (5).
(1) "Samuel Worley was charged with assaulting Elizabeth Stapps, his mother-in-law, at Iver, on the 20th July.- The complainant had interfered for the protection of her daughter, who was married to the defendant, and was then assaulted by him.- He was bound over in £30, and two sureties in £15, to keep the peace." Bucks Herald

(2) They probably moved in 1884. "Samuel Worley was summoned by Mr. James Smith, of Iver Heath, who sought to gain possession of a cottage occupied by the defendant in that place. The order was granted." Bucks Herald 16 February 1884.
(3) Her name was recorded as Silverian Elizabeth Worley in the official Register of Births.
(4) "Police find body at foot of cliff / Nearly five hours after a man had been seen to fall over the 450 feet high cliff at Beachy Head his body was found by Eastbourne police early today. / A mackintosh and blue coat were found at the cliff top. In the coat was a letter which suggests that the dead man is Frank William Carter of Brynmer Road, Albert Bridge Road, London S.W. / Police officers walked two miles over the rocks and beach at the foot of the cliffs searching in the dark before they found the body 50 feet up the cliff." (5) Clifford Worley "of 35 Wendover Road Staines Middlesex died 13 November 1964 at Ashford Hospital Stanwell Middlesex Probate Winchester 14 January to Phoebe Louise Hebendon married woman. £1150." England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations) 1858-1966 1965 page 766. Phoebe Louise Hebendon was his niece nee Phoebe Louise Rowe, daughter of his sister Ethel Louisa Rowe nee Worley.
