Elizabeth Pilling by Charles Allen Du Val

Elizabeth Pilling was born in 1778, the daughter of William Pilling 1752-1820 and his wife née Jeanetta Anlezark born in about 1756.

On 9 January 1796 she was married by licence in Manchester Collegiate Church (1) to James Pershouse 1771-1821.

They had the following children:

Ellen Pershouse. She was born in 1796 and died on 5 December 1796.

Sarah Pershouse. She was born in 1796 and died on 1 December 1796.

Gilbert Pershouse. He was born on 9 May 1798 and died on 17 February 1817.

Henry Pershouse. He was born on 3 November 1799 at Rivington in Lancashire. He married Mary Ann Barlow and died on 4 November 1862 in Manchester.

Jenetta Pershouse. She was born on 26 May 1801. On 6 September 1824 she was married to George Thomas Turner 1807-1869 at St Mary's church in Manchester. She died on 27 June 1879 at Scarborough in Yorkshire.

Eliza Sarah Pershouse. She was born on 23 March 1803, and was married to William Harper. She died on 9 March 1888 at Scarborough.

Caroline Pershouse. She was born in about 1805, and was married to Andrew Robert Birch. She died on 26 April 1860.

Ellen Pershouse. She was born in about 1807, and was married on 4 April 1839 to Charles Williamson of Lower Broughton near Manchester at Manchester Collegiate Church (2). She died on 10 January 1874 in Liverpool.

John Pershouse. He was born on 3 February 1809 and died in 1841.

William Pershouse. He was born on 30 October 1811 at Bridgnorth in Shropshire, and was baptised on 20 December 1811 at Wolverhampton Street Presbyterian Church in Dudley, Worcestershire. On 16 June 1831 he married Margaret Tisdale 1808-1893 at St John's church in Chester. In 1852 they emigrated to Australia, sailing from Liverpool on 22 March and arriving at Sydney in New South Wales on 27 July 1852. They lived successively at Gladstone, Boyne River at Port Curtis, Benaraby, and Bouldercombe, all in Queensland. He died on 1 December 1884 at Crocodile Diggings, and was buried on the following day at Rockhampton in Queensland, where there is a gravestone in South Rockhampton Cemetery inscribed to his memory.

Charles Pershouse. He was born in 1812, and married Christina Knowles.

Francis Pershouse. He was born 0n 28 October 1813 at Bridgnorth, and was baptised on 19 May 1814 at Wolverhampton Street Presbyterian Church in Dudley. He became a cotton merchant in Manchester. On 4 December 1858 he married Mary Reader 1821-1906 at Barton-upon-Irwell near Manchester. He died on 14 October 1890 at Exeter in Devon.

Sophia Pershouse. She was born on 22 November 1815 and died in 1822.

Ashworth Pershouse. He was born on 3 February 1818 at Ardwick in Manchester. He married Jane Brown 1821-1851, and died on 29 August 1860 at Southport in Lancashire (3).

Their mother Elizabeth Pershouse née Pilling died on 18 October 1849 at Ardwick in Manchester.

(3) His son Ashworth Frederick Pershouse 1840-1866 married Wilhelmina Mary Darby, and their daughter Frederica Wilhelmina Skelton Pershouse 1866-1958 was married on 31 August 1887 to Owen Thomas 1858-1923. "On 31 August 1887 at Llanbadrig, Anglesey, Owen Thomas of Neuadd, Anglesey to Frederica Wilhelmina Skelton Pershouse, only child of the late Frederick Pershouse, Esq. of Bowdon, Cheshire."
