George and Annie Worley

George Whitfield Worley was born in 1874 at Iver in Buckinghamshire, the son daughter of Gordon Henry Worley and his wife nee Eliza Annett.

The family were living at Iver Heath when the 1871 Census was taken, but by 1876 had moved to Wraysbury in Buckinghamshire. Shortly before the Census was taken in 1881 they had moved to a cottage at Kingsdown, Dartford in Kent. They moved again by 1888 to 6 Factory Yard at Hanwell in Middlesex, but by 1892 were living at 39 Bedford Road in neighbouring Ealing, Middlesex).

His father was a gardener, and would have been employed in the extensive Middlesex market gardens then a prominent feature of the still largely rural Hanwell and Ealing.

He married Annie Harriett Plumridge on 30 October 1897 at St John's church in Ealing (1). Both were aged 23 years. She was born in 1874 at Bisham in Berkshire, the daughter of Thomas Plumridge, a night watchman, who was deceased by the date of the wedding. The witnesses were Gordon Henry Worley and Ruth Worley.

They lived at , and had the following children, all born in Ealing:

Catherine Annie Worley. She was born in about 1898, and died on 14 December 1963 at Willesden in London.

Edith Mary Worley. She was born on 1 March 1900, and died in 1974 at Hammersmith in London.

George Edward Worley. He was born in 1902 and died in 1906.

Florence Alice Worley. She was born in 1904-1953 and died on 4 June 1953 at Willesden.

Thomas Whitfield Worley. He was born on 27 November 1905, and died in 1971 at Hillingdon in London. He was twice married, first to Ivy M. Millard, and secondly to Ivy Grace Fairs 1904-1949.

Eric Alfred Worley. He was born in 1908, and died in 1981 at Brighton. He married Ethel R. Underwood.

Arthur Stanley Worley. He was born in 1914, and died in 1967 at Portsmouth in Hampshire. He married Elsie May Mitchell 1915-1977.

Peter Francis Worley. He was born on 9 July 1920, and died on 4 June 2006 at Brighton. He was a carpenter.

Their father George Whitfield Worley died on 12 April 1951 aged 75 years at 47 Marmion Road, Hove near Brighton in Sussex (2).

His widow Annie Harriet Worley died on 4 June 1955 at Brighton.
