Edward Padmore was born at Penkridge, Staffordshire in about 1814.

In 1841 he was a clerk lodging at 6 Brazennose Street in Manchester.

On 22 September 1849 he married Henrietta Munsell Eskildson Wall Du Val, the daughter of Edward Octavius Caesar Wall Du Val and his wife nee Sarah Eskildson. They were married at a register office in Manchester. The bride's address was given as Dickenson Street in Manchester.

By 1861 they were living at 46 Sidney Street, off Oxford Street, in Chorlton-on-Medlock in Manchester, where he lived for the rest of his life (1). His precise occupation in commerce is unknown and variously described (2).

He was with his brother-in-law John Edward Burghall Wall Du Val when he died on on the 8 August 1872, and registered his death (3).

He died at home on 1 July 1891. His Will was proved at Manchester on 6 August 1891, the sole executor being James Stanley Kipping of 396 Moss Lane East, Moss Side in Manchester, a "Chemical Manufacturer". His personal estate was £1,050 7s 6d (4).

(1) No children are recorded as living with them in any of the Census Returns for 1861, 1871 and 1891. He and his wife do not appear in the 1881 Census, and the house at 46 Sidney Street is not there included. They may then have been visiting their relatives in Ireland. Henrietta Padmore was born in Dublin.

(2) On his marriage certificate his occupation is given as "Book-keeper". In the Census Returns for 1841, 1871, 1881 and 1891, he is described as being a "C[ommercial] C[lerk]", "Commission Merchant", "Manager", and "Commercial Agent". In the entry of his Will in the National Probate Calendar he was described as having been a "Commission Agent".
