In 1791 he was appointed Danish Consul in Dublin by King Christian VII of Denmark, a post that he held until he died in 1807.
He was twice married. His first wife was Mary Webb, whom he married 1767 in Dublin (1). She died between 1770 and 1781, when he re-married. His second wife was Henrietta Waller Taverner, by whom he had the following children:
Ann Eskildson. She was married in 1793 to Thomas Hodgens (2).
Mary Eskildson. She was married in 1801 to John Hurd (3).

(2) A Marriage Licence Bond was issued in that year (Deputy Keeper's Thirtieth Report : Dublin Will and Grant Book Index 1270-1858 : Index to the Act or Grant Books and Original Wills page 281). The intended bride was there named alternately as "Ann Edkillason", but that was probably a mishearing by the issuing official.

(4) The year 1804 is given in the handwriting of her son Charles Allen Du Val in the Du Val Family Scroll, but the Marriage Licence was issued in 1803 (Deputy Keeper's Thirtieth Report : Dublin Will and Grant Book Index 1270-1858 : Index to the Act or Grant Books and Original Wills page 332).
(5) The Marriage Licence was issued in that year (Deputy Keeper's Thirtieth Report : Dublin Will and Grant Book Index 1270-1858 : Index to the Act or Grant Books and Original Wills page 332). The intended bridegroom was there named as Severin Smith.
