William Renney was born in Manchester in 1833, and was baptised on 24 December 1833.

After the death of his father and the re-marriage of his mother, he lived with his step-father Charles Allen Du Val and mother in their home in Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester.

He was unmarried, and became a wine merchant, probably trading with his half-brother Edward James Du Val as Renney, Duval & Co. at 6 Hopwood Avenue near the Market Place in central Manchester (1).

He died on 13 October 1874 at 126 Bury New Road, Higher Broughton in Manchester.
